ON BEHALF OF...

let me say that i know dissing people that i do not know is never a good thing. but neither is openly criticizing your fellow coursemates.

the following post is by Erny, Year 1 CMM student at TP. if you remember, i've done like 2 posts on her already, about her indie fascination (or should i say wannabe-ness). don't ask me how i know her. and sorry if you know her.

i do this flame post because, the post is aimed directly at people in her semester. but indirectly affects everyone else. in what way?

read the following lines and you'll see that it applies to people who don't listen to her music (well, sorry if i'm not into Bjork!). ok, i know its kindaaaa petty that i'm getting a little rilled up over just that? but, i like my music, and i don't think it's right to insult others music tastes. and since i'm gonna address that, i might as well address the other issues she brought up about the people in her course, 'cause i feel that its an injustice towards them for her to say these. so...

here goes.

obviously, i'm addicted to the peace sign.

i still cannot connect with the people in mass comm. after an entire semester. initially, i thought they'll be a bunch of snotty, intelligent, self-absorbing, topshop-wearing, egoistic brats. now, i think they're all that minus intelligence plus a chunk of fake american accents, weird blogs, and zilch taste in music. with the exception of a minority. (especially the owner of a particular macbook that was playing sigur ros very softly during marketing lecture last week)

fyi, secondhand serenade is Not indie. morons.

before i begin, allow me to point that the first line of your post contradicts your post. why get addicted to the peace sign, if your post itself would start a war?

secondly, its YOUR problem if you can't connect. don't expect people to change for you.

thirdly, you don't go around saying your coursemates have "minus intelligence" and "a chunk of fake american accents" or "weird blogs". go look in a mirror before you judge girl.

and then! "zilch taste in music". i assume by that, you mean people who don't listen to your music lah? so i don't like Death Cab For Cutie. so i don't like Bjork. so i like Coldplay. so i like Chiodos. so you don't like them. SO WHAT? i don't need you to agree with my music taste. neither do i need to agree to yours! it's called personal taste. you can eff-ing like Tibetian Chants for all i care! i won't diss you, because everyone's entitled to their own choices! you know, it's ok if you don't like a person's music and you keep it to yourself. after all, like i said, everyone's entitled to their own choice. but when you make it known, don't look anywhere else when the venom comes in left, right and centre. eh, who made YOUR playlist the yardstick for musical taste anyway?

lastly, so what if i think SecondHand Serenade is indie? you gonna call me a moron just for a small mistake like that? girl! you gotta cool down! and do you even know the meaning of indie in the first place or not? fyi, its not the "to be different" indie that you try (note: TRY) to be.

and speaking about indie. you want to be indie right? you want to be different right? then don't expect other people to share the same interests as you. you're DIFFERENT remember? go look it up in the dictionary girl.

oh, and you're SOOOO indie huh? well, then why you want to connect with people? so indie, go live in a cave by yourself and talk to the bird and the bee (i know that's a band, in case you want to diss me).

you girl, are a disgrace to the people who are indie. people who are indie have their own personality. they're different because they believe in what they do, no matter what others think. it is they themselves, personal style, personal taste and personal beliefs that make them indie. there is no gauge for indie-ness. you don't say "i'm indie 'cause i listen to Bjork". you don't WANT to be indie. 'cause then it defeats the whole purpose of being indie.

you girl, are the cause as to why people stereotype Mass Communications students to be bitchy, hypocritical and haughty.

at least thats what i think. and what i believe in. as "un-indie" or whatever you deem it to be.
